It’s that time of year again when we celebrate all things beer! Well why wouldn’t you? Cheltenham & Gloucester Beer Week (CGBW) returns for the third year running and runs across a ten-day period from 14th – 23rd September.

Throughout CGBW we will have a couple of great deals to whet the appetite. Firstly with have our Pie ‘n a Pint. Our super talented chefs have created a mouthwatering Steak ‘n’ Ale Pie which, when bought with a pint of ale will cost you just £10. We also have a special Strand Beer Burger for the duration of the event. Made with one of our delicious ales and served with beer relish it costs just £10 (a saving of £2 over our usual burger).

There are also Beer Cocktails. Yes, you heard right, in expert hands beer makes a delicious cocktail. Don’t believe us? Then there’s only one way to find out. Choose from 3 different cocktails Campari IPA, Espresso Stout and The Elvis.

On Saturday 15th September we will once again join up with our sister pubs; the Royal and the Exmouth Arms, for our very own Barking Mad Ale Trail.  Visit each of the three pubs and complete some fun challenges (the ‘Mad’ part) and buy a half pint of beer.  Along the route between the pubs pick up some fiendish (not really) clues, then finish back where you started and you’ll be rewarded with a gold star and a smile and go on then; a free pint of beer! You’ll also be entered in to our prize draw to win some great giveaways including a meal for two. The ‘Barking’ bit? Bring along your dog and he/she will be rewarded with a bottle of dog beer especially for them! And all proceeds from the sale of our Dog Beer will go to Cheltenham Animal Shelter.

Our Brewer of the Month for September is Prescott Ales. Come along and meet the team on Thursday 20th September, from 6.30pm. Come along to sample some of their fantastic ales and pair with some tasters from our kitchen. Learn all about the history of Prescott and their brewing process and generally have a good old chin wag about beer in all its loveliness. As an extra incentive, all of Prescott Ales will be just £3 a night for the whole evening.
